Litigation is not always the only option for disputes that cannot be avoided, we support clients with alternative dispute resolution solutions that include mediation and arbitration. These solutions are at times less expensive and time-consuming than litigation. They also provide clients with more flexibility and control. Our lawyers have extensive arbitration experience and knowledge including in employment & labour relations, insurance, and hospitality sector disputes. We have experience representing both Kenyan and international individual and corporate clients.
Our lawyers’ experience
- Currently acting for a corporate client in a suit seeking to enforce an arbitral award against the County Government of Kajiado for KES 392 million (USD 3.29 million), exclusive of interest and costs.
- Acting for a multinational insurance company concerning a USD 5 million dispute with the Note Trustee in respect of obligations accruing under a commercial paper. The matter is being arbitrated under the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration.
- Acted for three American companies in proceedings in Kenya in successfully dismissing an application by a counterparty to have a dispute that was being adjudicated in New York being referred to arbitration in Kenya according to an arbitration clause in a share sale agreement valued at USD 36 million (KES 4.3 billion).
