We advise and represent clients across the sporting ecosystem in Kenya, Africa and internationally, including before the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT), disciplinary and ethics committees, international sports brands, and anti-doping bodies. Our experience spans anti-doping proceedings, sports governance and regulatory compliance, disciplinary and ethics matters, election disputes, athlete eligibility and selection challenges, sports commercial transactions, and complex, high-stakes litigation and arbitration affecting athletes, federations, clubs and sporting institutions.
Select Experience
- Successfully advised and represented an elite athlete accused of a procedural anti-doping rule violation, including obtaining interim relief from the Sports Disputes Tribunal preserving the athlete’s right to compete pending determination of the proceedings. The Firm provided end-to-end strategic counsel throughout the matter, including representation during ADAK investigations and results management processes, anti-doping rule violation hearings, challenges to provisional suspensions, scrutiny of testing procedures and laboratory protocols, sanction mitigation negotiations, and comprehensive athlete education and compliance advisory services. We also advised on appellate rights and broader regulatory obligations under the applicable anti-doping framework, ensuring the protection of the athlete’s procedural rights, reputation and competitive interests at every stage.
- We also acted for a national sports organisation and members of its Executive Board in one of Kenya’s most significant sports governance disputes, successfully defending multiple proceedings across courts and tribunals that sought to halt federation elections and destabilise the sport’s governance framework. Through coordinated advocacy in several parallel matters, we secured the lifting of injunctive orders, successfully opposed election-related challenges, upheld the role of the Sports Disputes Tribunal in resolving sporting disputes, and enabled the sports federation to conduct its elections on schedule, safeguarding its autonomy and continued membership with its international governing body.
