- Successfully petitioned, despite multiple opposing applications, for the issuance of a Grant of Letters of Administration Intestate in favour of our Client and three other co-petitioners. Our Client, a grandchild and beneficiary of the Estate of a former president valued at over USD 3.3 billion (KES 430 billion), co-represents his late father’s Estate, which holds a 20% stake valued at USD 660 million (KES 85 billion). The Estate spans several jurisdictions, including Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Malawi, South Africa, among others, significantly increasing the complexity of the administration of the Estate and succession proceedings.
- Recovered over USD 1.1 million (KES 140 million) for the beneficiaries of an Estate by successfully removing and replacing an administrator who had unlawfully sold a valuable Estate property and failed to account for or distribute the sale proceeds to them.
- Secured over USD 968,625 (KES 125 million) for an EU and UK‑based family by successfully defeating attempts by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, as well as a co‑owner, to block the sale of their late mother’s interest in a valuable and property in Kenya. We successfully demonstrated that although the property held historical significance, it did not meet the legal threshold of a National Monument requiring government protection, thereby clearing the way for the lawful sale in compliance with a Judgment to this effect.
- Successfully defended Heineken Brouwerijen B.V. against a UGX 6,354,466,405 (circa USD 1.6M) claim filed by Modern Lane Limited in Kampala, Uganda. This case was part of a cross-border dispute where we worked together with Ortus Advocates.
- Successfully represented a group of expatriate medical doctors against the Mediheal Group of Hospitals and obtained a KES 163,171,761 (circa USD 1M) court award.
- Successfully advised and represented StandardAero in a case against Airworks Kenya Limited and in so doing helped StandardAero collect USD 500,000 in sums owed.
- Successfully represented Araba Adebisi in a precedent-setting employment dispute against the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, an international organisation with immunity. The Court was persuaded that AGRA could not assert immunity as a defence in the case, Mr. Araba was unfairly terminated and ought to be paid USD 127,000.
