I have finally completed my pupillage journey at ADRA Advocates, and, to be honest, I could not have chosen a better place to undertake it.

During my interview at ADRA last year, my first impression of the firm was its culture. For some reason, the place just felt… welcoming. There were personable individuals who did not seem to subscribe to the standard corporate-esque personality.

Given my interactions here, and mostly outside LinkedIn since this is only my second post, you may have gathered by now that the corporate-esque personality is not exactly what you should expect from me. Unsurprisingly, I have no plans to start performing one for this post. Turns out, my first impression was right.

And although this is a corporate platform, I think many of us ( even for LinkedIn merchants) would appreciate working environments that do not demand personality performance; environments where you can simply be yourself while still being challenged to grow (Nothing against corporate- esque personalities by the way!)

Beyond the culture, ADRA is truly invested in quality. From client management to the handling of files, there is intentionality in every step. For those undertaking pupillage, the mentorship is equally intentional.

Safe to say, my seven months here have been a period of intense transformation ,one that has, in many ways, left an enduring mark on me.

From an observational point of view, it has also been remarkable to see how vision-led the firm is.

Despite being a young firm, ADRA has experienced tremendous growth, which I attribute, in part, to its commitment to leading with clear values and an underlying vision , and, importantly, not letting up. The Green Policy and Open Door Policy, for example, are not merely statements on paper. They are principles that are actively guarded and lived out.

[PS: I have found myself frequently staring at ADRA’s logo and thinking about how fitting it is. A tree cared for, growing, and spreading its roots. I may be reading far too much into the logo, but four years on, the symbolism feels remarkably apt. The improvement has been massive, beyond many imaginations (I am sure even the imaginations of the partners) and this is mostly attributable to the work that has gone into quality building]

What has struck me most is the sense that the dream is bigger than the people who currently occupy the space. There is an intentionality towards building something that is not merely successful today, but is meant to outlive its founders. That, to me, is what makes a vision truly remarkable.

I have had the opportunity to interact with files from their nascent stages to almost their end stages. I have also been involved in several high-stakes matters, experiences for which I am immensely grateful.

The transformation has been genuinely life-changing…almost second to none. There are lessons, experiences, and relationships from these seven months that I know I will carry with me for a very long time.
