Rutvi is a Barrister (UK) and also an admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. With a strong dispute resolution background and well-founded training, she has experience in aviation, banking, debt recovery, employment, insolvency, insurance, land, manufacturing and oil and gas, shareholder disputes, sports, succession litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Rutvi’s penchant for detail, in depth research and drafting skills are often called upon in complex, high-stakes commercial disputes.

  • Successfully represented 34 expatriate medical practitioners to secure KES 150 million (circa USD 1.2 million) salary arrears through asset tracing, and preservation orders.
  • Part of the team that successfully recovered KES 140 million (circa USD 1.1 million) for the beneficiaries of an Estate by successfully removing and replacing an administrator who had unlawfully sold a valuable Estate property and failed to account for or distribute the sale proceeds to them.
  • Part of a team that successfully represented beneficiaries and administrators of several high-profile Estates in Kenya, ensuring that their interests and rights in the Estates are secured.
  • Successfully defended a leading regional insurance company against a KES 600 million (circa USD 5 million) London Court of International Arbitration, arbitration claim.
  • Successfully defended a leading regional insurance company in a KES 192 million (circa USD 1.6 million) dispute over a performance guaranteed issued by the company and having the matter struck out at a preliminary stage.
  • Successfully obtained a KES 245 million (circa USD 2.1 million) summary judgment in a favour of a global advertising giant.
  • Successfully advised and acted for a global engineering company concerning a tender dispute about a KES 120 million (circa USD 1 million) on-demand guarantee
  • Successfully recovered KES 50 million (circa USD 400 thousand) for a leading aviation maintenance company in Kenya at preliminary stage.
